Anna Laura Monzi was born in Amelia, Umbria, in 1957. Her childhood and adolescence spent in a small medieval village deeply influenced her way of seeing the world, fostering values of respect for nature and all living beings that have marked her life.
At the age of 17, Anna Laura moved to Milan to make up for a year of accounting studies, but the captivating atmosphere of the city opened new perspectives for the young artist, with its vibrant cultural scene, innovative events, and feminist movements of the time. The music of artists like Genesis, Led Zeppelin, Doors, and Neil Young fueled her curiosity and helped shape her perception of the world.
During that period, Anna Laura faced significant existential confusion, but thanks to reading Sigmund Freud's books such as "Introduction to Psychoanalysis" and "The Interpretation of Dreams," she found a way to understand her inner struggles. This experience motivated Anna Laura to enroll in the faculty of philosophy with a psychological focus, where she had the opportunity to study and delve into the works of Friedrich Nietzsche, a philosopher who became a source of inspiration and liberation for her.
Alongside her academic studies, Anna Laura discovered her passion for art, craftsmanship, and creation. Starting as a self-taught artist, she crafted and sold bijoux made of wire and beads, gaining economic independence. At the same time, she nurtured her passion for painting and writing poetry, considering them as nourishment for her soul.
Subsequently, Anna Laura decided to change her major and enrolled in the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, in the painting course taught by Pippo Spinoccia, a renowned artist who taught how to express oneself through art. She also attended the life drawing course to deepen her interest in the human body and its physical and spiritual potentials.
Meanwhile, her work with bijoux started to gain success, and she collaborated with important brands like Fiorucci and La Medusa, selling her products in fashion stores in downtown Milan. This success led Anna Laura to make the decision to leave the Brera Academy and dedicate herself full-time to her work in the field of bijoux. She opened her workshop, which became the starting point of her career in the art world.

Anna Laura dedicated her time to perfecting her artistic skills independently, through constant practice and the study of painting and jewelry techniques. During this period, she had the opportunity to collaborate with various industry magazines, writing articles and manuals on creating fashionable handmade accessories. In 1994, she wrote her first manual titled "Homemade Jewelry," published by Sonzogno. This was just the beginning of her career as an author of manuals and a promoter of her artistic knowledge.
Anna Laura acquired painting techniques by studying manuals and drawing inspiration from great painters of the past, focusing on creating portraits. Over time, she developed the ability to create detailed and unique works of art. Her experience in the fields of jewelry making and painting led her to share her knowledge by teaching courses in various public institutions and at her studio. She taught painting, jewelry creation, portraiture, reproductions of masterpieces, and decorative arts like trompe-l'oeil and decoupage. Being able to transmit her passion and witnessing her students grow artistically has been a rewarding experience for Anna Laura.
Despite the economic difficulties she sometimes faced along her creative journey, Anna Laura is grateful for the opportunities she has had in her work. She approached every challenge with great passion and enthusiasm, seizing the opportunities that arose and sharing her creativity with others. She feels a deep sense of pride in the results she has achieved and in the ability to share her artistic talent with the world.

From 2017 to today
Anna Laura has faced a new phase of her artistic career. After closing her studio due to financial difficulties, she devoted time to finding herself and delving into spirituality through major religions like Buddhism and Catholicism. During this period of inner contemplation, she finally mustered the courage to explore the art of digital painting, a long-held desire.
For years, she had been using Photoshop to create paintings, harnessing the potential of the software. However, she had always harbored a certain fear and a kind of laziness when facing something new, and even a sense of melancholy in having to bid farewell to traditional painting with its brushes, colors, and canvases. Thus, for a long time, she held onto the desire to explore the vast world of digital art, but she had never been able to realize it. Nevertheless, fate acted in her favor. It is said that when one door closes, another one opens, and in her case, it was exactly like that.
For Anna Laura, digital art from a creative and spiritual standpoint has not represented a revolution compared to traditional painting. Despite using different tools, the essence of her artistic exploration remains intact. Digital art embraces a fascinating universe of creativity, where graphic software, the use of Artificial Intelligence and a wide range of digital tools and brushes blend harmoniously without limits. The interaction between AI and digital art can lead to surprising results, but preserving her voice and originality in using this technology is of vital importance to her.
But what fascinates her even more is the possibility of understanding the world around her and grasping the continuously evolving future. Through digital painting, she manages to capture the essence of a rapidly transforming era, where technology and art fervently converge. This world offers her the opportunity to surpass conventional boundaries, push the limits of imagination, and discover new artistic frontiers.
Every day, Anna Laura immerses herself in this exciting journey, seeking to fully understand the kind of world we areheading towards. Digital painting represents a pathway for her to explore the future, capturing the beauty and essence of an era characterized by technological and artistic evolution.
